The interwebthingy allows us to put all sorts of fascinating information about ourselves online; best of all, it needn’t be even remotely true. Thus, I could tell you here that I am a Mongolian Yak herder; a circus acrobat in Harare; a Foreign Legionnaire deployed in Guiana; or even a wealthy former tech executive travelling around the world in my sailboat. I could enjoy jumping out of planes, or deep-sea diving, or killing SMERSH operatives for MI5. Someday I should write a blog like that, because it would be fascinating.
Unfortunatey, reality is dull. You can find out plenty about me by reading my professional bio, my LinkedIn profile, or my Myspace page. You can dig deeper with my Smugmug page, Cork’d profile, or Amazon Wishlist. If you came here from Google, no, I’m not the New Zealand High Commissioner for Trade, although that would probably make a good addition to the blog of made-up personalities. I’m just some guy. I blog because I need to practice writing things that aren’t dry business memos and the suchlike. I live in Los Angeles. I like a lot of different kinds of food. I’m a fan of Crest Whitestrips. I like it to be cold at night so that I can huddle under the covers. I love watching Cops. I’m a sucker for the $5.99 DVDs at Best Buy. I hate people in the aggregate but love them in the specific. Oh, and apparently I like technology too much.
What’s the name of this blog about? Well, here’s my buddy Junior Bird:

And what could be a better inspiration for writing than a loving, bratty pet who talks?
So, that’s me, this is my blog, hope you enjoy it. And if not, hey, that’s what the comment-y things are for. Now it’s time for a snack.
